Five Tibetan Rites
Mindful movements that support health
Although I love movement practices, staying with them has been challenging. Part of my 4 year plan is to prioritize meaningful exercise into every day. So far I’m good! I have practiced the 5 Tibetan Rites every day since December 30, 2024. The whole routine takes about 15 minutes.
I’m working slowly and steadily
After just a week I was feeling more energy and that has continued to build over time. Below are links to the resources I used to learn the rites so you can try to if you are interested.
The 5 Rites are 5 Specific Movements
This practice invigorates the body’s energetic system to promote health and vitality. The intention is to slowly build up to doing 21 repetitions of each exercise.
The original western source of these exercises is very clear about building repetitions slowly. I highly recommend that you read that book, The Eye of the Revelation The Ancient Tibetan Rites of Rejuvenation, by Peter Kelder(free pdf) in order to understand the intention and scope of these exercises. The website that offers this free pdf has a great faq section. She also offers a comprehensive video course if you are interested.

Video Instruction:
Here is an instructor slowing things down and giving tips about how to do each movement correctly…this one helped me get going:
My tracking system…it’s not perfect but it works.
There are lots of videos and materials about these movements, and many opinions about the right way to do them…which is why I appreciated reading the original book which gives plenty of guidelines.
The references above are the ones I used to get started, although I keep looking around to see what others are doing for inspiration.
